BUGHA: The face behind Game Awards 2019 ‘Gamer Of The Year.’

Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, best known as Bugha to his 3 million + followers on instagram, took home the Game Awards ESports Gamer of the Year awards – but who is the man behind it all?

Responsible for one of the most impressive victories in competitive Fortnite history, Bugha solidified his success in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching at home, Bugha steadily handled the competition at the Fortnite World Cup. He made history as the first Fortnite World Cup Solo Champion and pocketed $3M USD in the process when he was just 16 years old.

He started as an unsigned Fortnite player, and it what seemed like an instant managed to sign with an organisation and win his first LAN tournament. He accomplished his World Cup victory against the absolute best that Fortnite has to offer.Although some may argue the award should have gone elsewhere, Bugha’s achievements are truly spectacular. His journey through tournaments and gaining all the recognition afterward is nothing short of inspirational. The Esports Player of the Year award validates all of Bugha’s hard work up to this point. He remains one of the best Fortnite players to this day.

He’s won many awards to this point and will now add another to his collection after winning The Gaming Awards Esports Player of the Year.As the hope grew, The Golden State Warriors player, Stephen Curry, announced the nominees. Amongst such worthy adversaries as Faker, Perkz, S1mple and Sinatraa, the two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA Champion announced Bugha as the victor. The Fortnite World Cup Champion took the stage in all his glory with a few words to say. “Thank you guys so much. This is like the best way to end off my year, honestly. Thank you all to my fans, my family, my friends, my team Sentinels and most of all Epic Games for making any of this possible.” Bugha said. “I’m so glad to be a part of this community and I can’t wait to see what the future holds”. Looking back on his career, the Fortnite World Cup Champion could not have been a better year for himself.
